You remember Draw Force right? It’s a drawing challenge blog created by myself and a few friends. Yeah, we kind of got too busy for it. But the core members of the force had a meeting last week and decided to kick it back into gear. A mission a month is what we decided. Not a lot, but more that what we’ve been doing. And so Mission 016 was born: Space man.
I decided to go with a movie poster approach. Once I settled on that I had to come up with a tag line, which necessitated a story, albeit a vague one. But now I keep finding myself thinking about all the possibilities of this story. Who is this guy? What was his mission? Who is he fighting? Lots of ideas.
This is how stories are born and why I need to make time for drawing challenges like Draw Force.

Sweet! I forgot about Draw Force! Lookin’ forward to seeing more as the months go by. (Believe me, I understand how these sort of projects can fade away)

OH man Jake that is fantastic. What makes it really great is the summary below him. It really makes you want to know what it’s all about. What a great creative kickstarter.

It was in the news that Clubbitonium was too expensive to mine there anyways. Why should anyone stay on a cold rusted rock too costly to maintain a living there? What’s so special?

Like the slightly skritchy look to the figure. Reminds me of a story from Heavy Metal in the 80’s. With your abundant free time, are you going to do up a story?
Oh, where did the Mars image come from?

Is it your job or your nature that actively puts yourself in situations to breed creativity? I love it!

Good question there. I have the job that I have because of my nature.

love the movie poster compositoin of the illustrstion it looks great. Also wanted to mention that I went to my kids bokfair at their school and surprised to see Missile Mouse as one of the books they have for sale. Needless to say I had to buy it. IF not for my kids then for myself. Great stuff. Did you aproach Scholastic or did they approach you. Would love to hear the story behind that.

you should take a look at Copic SP fineliners. Replaceable tips. Refillable inks. Probably cheaper in the long run. IMHO much better feel/flow than Microns too.
Good luck with the book.

This definitely looks like it’s very interesting. I’m sure that if Draw Force found itself on DeviantArt, it would keep on going even without the lead guys.
