Only a couple days left of 2009. Lots to think about. Much to be thankful for. And a whole lot to look forward to this next year. To start 2010 off right, and to end 2009 with a bang, I’m having my first ever contest.
1) A signed hardcover copy of Missile Mouse: the Star Crusher.
2) A signed copy of Flight Explorer.
3) A signed print of the cover art for Flight Explorer (13 x 19 in).
4) The original inked art for the back cover to the Star Crusher (11 x 14 in).
There are multiple chances to win and you can enter up to FIVE times. Here’s how:
1) Comment on this post. Make sure to include your email in the “email” field (will not be published) and let me know what your favorite post of 2009 was. I’m also interested in knowing what you’d like to see more of for 2010. Inktober again? More MM? Ease off on the MM? More finished stuff? Less sketchy stuff? Let me know. This counts for ONE entry.
2) Become a fan of Missile Mouse Facebook Page or follow me on Twitter. This will get you another entry. If you’re already a Facebook fan or Twitter follower you’re good to go. This counts for ONE entry.
3) Want to get the edge? Order a Missile Mouse commission. This counts for THREE entries.
That’s it! Good luck. Contest ends in one week. On the night of Tuesday, January 5th 2010 I’ll randomly select the winner and announce it on Wednesday. Cool?

very cool looking prizes. I’ve been enjoying the missile mouse stuff from when i first saw it a few years back. Glad to see it finally properly published. Inktober was great. maybe some how to’s regarding your digital coloring techniques if ts not some top secret technique.
December 29th, 2009 at 6:20 pm
I pretty much agree with Ramsey, above me. Like the MM stuff. Inktober was a great addition. but my favorite is the stuff that you color like this … http://www.flickr.com/photos/jakeparker/4153976705/sizes/o/... great work!
December 29th, 2009 at 6:23 pm
Rad prizes! Have a great time with your contest!
As far as the new year. I certainly hope inktober will return again and anything MM is awesome. Love the little background tidbits and explanations for his gear and such. Your sketching videos were awesome too. Anything new would just be a bonus! Just keep rocking the casbah!
Happy New Year! (to come)

December 29th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
I really like seeing your vehicle drawings like the March 09 Otterball (my favorite). Inktober was great! Do it again!
December 29th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
I really enjoyed the inktober posts and more along those type of blog posts for 2010 would be great but I also LOVE your colour work, so a mix of posts as you have been posting during 2009 would continue the great blog! Maybe one or two posts on your creative process, what helps you move into the ‘zone’ and what materials are your favourite for creating your work? HAPPY NEW YEAR!
December 29th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
i think my favorite post this year was the inktober stuff but anything mm related is always awesome. would love to see some more process stuff on the mm books in the future.
and of course have a great new year!!! what a great contest
December 29th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
Jake, of course I hope to win but I’m writing to thank you again for Inktober: it made me rediscover drawing and got me started with brush inking. I bought a Pentel brush pen and am now inking with brushes. It’s so beautiful. Thank you so much.
In 2010 I’m asking for a new Inktober, of course but I think what would really be awesome would be tutorials, especially on landscape drawing and inking as this is what caught my attention in your work. I’m an architect so I really enjoy your landscapes.
Thanks again man and happy, healthy and fruitful 2010!
December 29th, 2009 at 7:36 pm
I, like everyone else, really enjoyed inktober, and would love to see that again. and if i had to say something id like to see more of, id like to see more finished pieces, and possibly more robots/machines. i really enjoy those.
have a good new year!
December 29th, 2009 at 8:22 pm
I only just started following your work during Inktober, so that has definitely been my favorite, but all the Missile Mouse things I have been seeing lately look fantastic!
December 29th, 2009 at 8:36 pm
More inks, bud. And pencil work. I first landed here because of the mention on Drawn! about Missile Mouse (the post you did about drawing him back to childhood), so that works too. Happy New Year, and best of luck with the release of Missile Mouse.
December 29th, 2009 at 8:39 pm
i think the coolest posts were the missile mouse commissions. it would be cool if there were some new “making of-” posts in 2010.
December 29th, 2009 at 9:14 pm
I gotta agree that the Inktober thing was fantastic– all those crazy pen drawings. The little Missile Mouse animation thing on Veoh you posted a while back was fantastic, too. I’m only just discovering your work, but man, I really like what I see.
Keep it cool in 2010, bro!
December 29th, 2009 at 11:40 pm
You are a fantastic and unique artist, Jake! Don’t let the dream die!
December 30th, 2009 at 12:07 am
More Missile Mouse, both finished and sketches. Of course, tutes and creative musings are enjoyed too.
December 30th, 2009 at 12:13 am
I liked the art posts with space ships. But my favorite was the Missile Mouse trailer with it’s killer soundtrack.
December 30th, 2009 at 12:53 am
Great idea having a contest to kick off the year! I would have to say my favorite post was the Dec.17 one…and not just cuz it was my 5 year anniversary. I am always looking for podcasts of artist who’s work I admire…and the video was just bonus.
I would like to see more post of inspired work from your family/kids since I have 2 little ones of my own
Also, the samples of your projects from Blue Sky are always excellent too(just watched Ice Age 3 tonight with my son and we loved it!). Finally, don’t forget to post another dream if you have one…i always enjoy a good dream story.
December 30th, 2009 at 4:19 am
… ou, i like the sketched stuff the most ( especially dinosaurs hehe ) … i get most ideas for my own things from that … and you draw nice! …
December 30th, 2009 at 4:48 am
Definitely loved the Inktober posts! Would like to see more sketch work if poss.
Love it!
December 30th, 2009 at 5:05 am
Let’s see…. my favorite posts were probably the very first post of Inktober and the development of MM through the ages. Seeing the process of growth and change was insightful and the whole concept of Inktober and appreciation for the traditional medium was really cool to see everyday. More posts would be awesome, even just some cool doodle from the day or even ideas. I definitely think Inktober should be an annual thing, and if it catches on then you can lay claim to the founding of it!
December 30th, 2009 at 6:23 am
As an artist, I like to see the process.
When I discover a new artist, I always go to the skecthbook first, then I go to the finished illustration.
Those vídeos you did when you was inking MM are very helpful: for showing the technique and for bring inspiring.
So: More videos, more skecths, more inktober. Just be you. Just be careful with “…good guy Jake and the bad guy Parker”
Cheers
Jands
December 30th, 2009 at 7:52 am
I agree with Janderson, if you keep being you it’s going to make for a very good year.
Highfive Jake, your drawings are cool.
December 30th, 2009 at 11:01 am
The book looks great, I’m eager to get my hands on a copy. Your site had tons of great work this year. I really like the look of the Otter Racers and other work that you render with pencil and colour (such as Prof Davenport and the wreckage). But I have to say that Inktober was a blast. Not only was the work awesome and varied in themes but you also had some stellar tips about inking. As for next year… just keep doing what you are going, it has me coming by every morning in hopes of a new post (and yes, please do another inktober).
Thanks for all the great work, I really enjoy it.
-Gavin

2010 looks like it’s going to be a great year my friend!!! This contest is a great idea! Good luck to the winner!
December 30th, 2009 at 12:51 pm
I think my favorite page from inktober was on day 26, the little underwater dudes exploring. I would love to see more illustrations about those guys. What did they find? Was there something lurking in the shadows they didn’t expect?? hahah
Pretty much all your robot/mech drawings are crazy good, so anything with them would be great as well.
I don’t know how you make the time for all this Jake, you’re a real inspiration.
December 30th, 2009 at 1:27 pm
I preferred Inktober over all else; it was awesome. Though, I remember some Whoville process work that was also spectacular. I’m a big fan of process work. I know it’s harder to post, but it gives some insight into technique that I find helpful and inspiring.
I’m just entering this to show support. We’ve got our copy of Star Crusher, our two (inadvertent) copies of Inktober and the two super-cool originals that went with it. So, we’re happy
December 30th, 2009 at 1:56 pm
Hi Jake,
I think that you should try some more ink ‘n’ brush work… Inktober was fantastic, and it would be neat to see some more work like that, maybe colored… I guess I’ve got to admit it, but I loved Rabbit & Bear. That could really go somewhere too. Wishing you a blessed 2010, and abundant creativity!!
-Will
December 30th, 2009 at 2:03 pm
Inktober by far! Especially the first ones!
December 30th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Jake, been a fan since agent44.net, loved the daily sketches, and Inktober was the best to watch(was luck enough to get the book.) Your short stories are some of the best illustrated narrative(Robot&Sparrow). Maybe a Daily/Weekly MM, or Lucy Nova, know you are busy, but would be fun. Thanks for sharing your talent. Have a great New Year!
December 30th, 2009 at 3:46 pm
I want one! OK, I found your blog late in the year, but I really enjoyed Inktober. I will add that my favorite post was “Alein Horse” because I loved the father/daughter bonding along with the quirky art.
December 30th, 2009 at 3:48 pm
I’m already a facebook fan so make sure to add me twice Mister.
December 30th, 2009 at 5:33 pm
WANT.
I loved the whole Inktober series of posts, but if I had to pick a favorite drawing, it would be day 15.
http://agent44.com/blog2/?p=590
I also appreciated days 2 and 7, in which you go into depth re. materials and technique.
Way to smoke out the lurkers, btw.
December 30th, 2009 at 9:23 pm
More MM. Always more MM! My favorite posts this year have been the over the shoulder ones you done showing us you working on your commissions and pages for MM.
December 31st, 2009 at 12:51 am
can’t wait for MM!
December 31st, 2009 at 5:20 am
I actually just purchased MM on Amazon.
That said, I loved all of Inktober. I’m continually impressed by your work and confidence and will continue to read your blog on a weekly basis.
December 31st, 2009 at 10:58 am
Inktober was great but since everybody loves that I’ll give you another. I really like all the posts where you get in depth into your process. I think those serve the double purpose of showing us great art and teaching us (those of us who need it) a little more about how it all works. So I’d love to see more of that and more theme months if you doesn’t kill you too much to do them
December 31st, 2009 at 12:47 pm

Inktober was great.

@ Barry: Oh, man! I forgot about Lucy Nova! Best part of the JP Sketchbook. Second on more LN!
December 31st, 2009 at 9:06 pm
Our, me and the kids, favorite post was the alien horse drawn by your child. We would like to see more rough and loose art posts. Seeing the road is almost better then the destination. My daughter and sons read this post and have their fingers crossed for a win!
December 31st, 2009 at 10:45 pm
This was a tough one Jake, you had a killer year of content. “Sunday Drive” continues to take the cake in my book. As far as future posts, more brush inkwork of MM would cover all the bases!
January 1st, 2010 at 10:04 am

Bring back Robo Ready!!!!
January 2nd, 2010 at 2:05 pm
I’m a student who stares at awe at all your drawings and then try to create my own. I only found out about you in October, but I loved Inktober and definitely want to see that again. I particularly like the vehicles and the robots and machines.
January 2nd, 2010 at 7:36 pm
As a model maker a sculptor I love your machinery, I especially loved Otter 1 and Otter 2 race cars. I would love to build them they are great. I really like seeing your blend of machinery and flesh and the awesome vehicles and gadgets for MM. One of my favs of all time was from your old blog/website, it was a guy looking thru binoculars riding a four legged vehicle, those types of posts are always in my favs. I look forward to your new work and want to make sure I get a copy of the next Inktober as I missed the first one.
January 2nd, 2010 at 9:24 pm
I would love to see more tutorials of how you work. I find it interesting to see how others work. Maybe you could add a section where others send it artwork for a monthly themed post. Just a thought. Keep up the good work!
January 3rd, 2010 at 7:33 am
Great idea !
my favorite post is still the first one I discovered :
“Whoville Concept Art II”…

January 3rd, 2010 at 7:09 pm
I can’t even tell you how cool this giveaway is to me!
January 3rd, 2010 at 8:16 pm
I loved Inktober! Very inspiring. I also really enjoyed the concept art from Horton Hears a Who. Great stuff. I’d like to see even more sketches and roughs in 2010. It’s great to see the process behind the work. Thanks Jake!
January 4th, 2010 at 2:40 am
loved soldier bot, more of that in the new year would be good, keep up the cool work.
January 4th, 2010 at 12:03 pm
If I don’t win it, I’ll end up buying MM. I’ve got some Christmas moneys burning a hole in my pocket
January 4th, 2010 at 12:12 pm
I was drawn to the website because of Inktober so I would say that was my favorite. I’ve read the Flight books and knew of your work from there but really, Inktober was a complete thrill for me as far as watching your creativity flow into doing awesome pastiche of your favorite inking Gods. Keep up the the awesome work!
January 4th, 2010 at 2:39 pm
I really enjoyed Inktober, between your great drawings and all the wonderful inspiration you posted each day. So I’d really love to see that repeated next year. As for my favorite post, it might be Sunday Drive, the one that kicked off the inking idea. It’s just a great drawing and I like seeing it in the sketchbook.
January 4th, 2010 at 3:41 pm
Can you send the prize to Buenos Aires, Argentina
January 4th, 2010 at 4:38 pm
Ah! About the “what you’d like to see more of for 2010″ I really like the “step by step” posts/tutorials… from the sketches to the final result
January 4th, 2010 at 5:38 pm
I liked the history of Missile Mouse. I think it just cause I recognized some of the drawings. Like everyone else I loved Inktober, my favorite ones were the military themed ones.
http://agent44.com/blog2/?p=592
I just read Missile Mouse the Star Crusher last night. I got home from NY yesterday and it was the first time I had a chance to get my hands on it. I read it from cover to cover and I can’t wait to see what the next book has in store.
January 4th, 2010 at 8:38 pm
My favorite post was seeing the first 60 drawings of your
Inktober Is there any chance you will do any more prints, as i really did want a copy
Have a successful 2010
January 4th, 2010 at 11:52 pm
I loved the posts about your children and their drawings – particularly Alien Hors (“I sad”) That one put a big smile on my face.
Inktober was great – especially the references you linked to, so I’d love to see similar posts to those ones.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
January 5th, 2010 at 12:41 am
Honestly man, all your posts are great. Whenever I check in and see a new drawing its a little nugget of awsome in my day.
January 5th, 2010 at 10:59 am
I think my favourite post was the one that precluded Inktober: Sunday Drive. I just love the linework in that picture! So glad I was able to get the Inktober book with original art insert
I just like popping into your blog now and again to see how things are going. Just keep doing what you do! Live to dream…dream to live.
January 5th, 2010 at 11:26 am
I loved your Whoville posts (maps, landscape designs, and cross-section of the spec) in 2009.
I also really liked the dinosaurs in inktober. I’d love to see more dinosaurs but I also like seeing all of MM’s new gadgets (as well as his vintage ones). I anxiously await inktober 2010!
Jake, you rock and I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of MM TSC.
January 5th, 2010 at 11:28 am
Oh, and I’m already following you on twitter and have been a Facebook fan for a while.
January 5th, 2010 at 2:15 pm
Great prize.. Missile Mouse is a great character.
January 6th, 2010 at 4:52 am
I really liked inktober, but my favorite thing in 2009 was watching the time lapse video of the MM commission being drawn.
January 6th, 2010 at 2:52 pm
Whoa – Missile Mouse Motherload!
Favorite post(s) and book was the Inktober series. It’s been a lot of fun watching you wander around with your explorations.
Kids and I enjoy our previously purchased commission of MM and perusing the Inktober book – though i have to ransack their rooms when I want a turn.
Thanks for the good work and keep it up!
January 28th, 2010 at 3:57 pm
Congrats on a great year! Love the vids
